I worked at CuriosityStream, the documentary streaming service by the founder of the Discovery Channel. From day one, I hit the ground running, wearing many hats including that of researcher, designer, cross-departmental collaborator, and content maven to help understand and connect with our customers. In my first year I helped reduce annual customer churn by 2% by helping our team get to know our customers and designing more intuitive experiences.
Previously, I was at Hobsons, an edtech company where I created experiences to help students become college and career ready. I worked on projects that affected nearly 9 million students throughout the K-12 life cycle, as well as the adults instrumental to their success, including counselors, teachers, parents, and district-level staff.
My background includes expertise in marketing, nonprofits, international education, and public relations, giving me a wide span of experiences to draw on when designing good UX.
Currently, I’m consulting.
Hobbies
When not geeking out in the UX realm, I can be found DIYing (I’m accumulated quite the power tool collection).

That last name, though...
I realize my last name is a little unique -- here's a cheat sheet on how to pronounce it if you're interested: "cha-hon-ski"
Peer review
Here's what some of my colleagues said about me during a recent anonymous peer feedback review:
“Eliza consistently displays genuine interest in giving her projects all she has, to the benefit of our end users and co-workers, delivering her best work consistently and with heart. This has earned the respect of her coworkers.”
“Working with Eliza to weigh different ideas is one of my pleasures in working here. Eliza also seeks out opportunities to learn new skills and explore new ideas (such as through conferences and meet-ups) and she’s generous about sharing her knowledge.”
“Eliza does a good job focusing on building the best user experience, and relies on the engineering team to give her feedback on how difficult something is to build, and then makes adjustments to fit the time we have to build a particular feature. She wants the best solution for the customer given our constraints. ”
